Prints of Venice

Come join us in The Mitchell Gallery, St. John’s College to hear a lecture by Curator Eric Denker.

Sunday, October 27, at 4:00 pm

Mellon Hall, Conversation Room

Ernest David Roth (1879-1964) was one of the most significant and influential American etchers of the first half of the twentieth century. His work included important and exotic views of the world, but his most important prints are those of Italy, which capture the essence of Venetian architecture in the clear light of the Venetian lagoon. This exhibition brings together 35 of Roth’s most important Venetian views, including variant printings of the plates, preparatory drawings, and the plates themselves, with prints by his most important artistic contemporaries.

Organized by the Trout Gallery, Dickinson College. This exhibition is generously supported by the Helena Foundation.

Mitchell Gallery members are invited to a wine and cheese reception immediately following the lecture. Registration required. Call 410-972-3302
